KIDDERMINSTER v MACCLESFIELD – Pick: Both teams to score – 17 January 2015

Kiddie and Silkmen push for play-off spots

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 17th January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Next up is a top half clash between sixth placed Kidderminster and third placed Macclesfield Town in an intriguing contest at the Aggborough Stadium with both teams jockeying for the best possible play-off spots.

Kidderminster are actually one league position and one point adrift of Eastleigh who face a tough trip up north to Halifax on the weekend, so Kiddie may well fancy their chances of leapfrogging the south coast side into the play-off pack at their expense.

A win at Dartford last time out halted back-to-back defeats against Southport and Forest Green Rovers (which were both inflicted on their own turf), and their home record has now adjusted to  8-3-4  25/17 accordingly. A positive though is that they’ve failed to score on just three occasions in their 15 home matches so far.

Macclesfield Town have been involved in an exactly the same sort of results recently as their counterparts this afternoon having won away at Grimsby Town 2-1 which put an end to two straight defeats to Grimsby Town and Bristol Rovers, but they’ve lost just three matches in their last 16 league matches.

But it’s goals that I’m interested in for this pick, and The Silkmen have failed to score just twice in their last eight away matches, while their overall away record stands at  5-5-5  17/19.

On the flip side, Macclesfield have kept just two clean sheets in their last ten on their travels.

Potential anytime goalscorers for both sides are Byrne and Reid for Kidderminster, and Fairhurst and Barnes-Homer for Macclesfield. I’ll therefore back both teams to net here in what could be a 1-1 draw.
