Fifth placed Kidderminster have moved up into the play-off pack on the back of a four match unbeaten run and the challenge is now on to remain in the top five starting with the visit of lowly Southport at Aggborough Stadium in Saturday afternoon’s Skrill Premier clash.

Back-to-back home wins over Macclesfield Town and Barnet sandwiched by draws against Wrexham and Aldershot Town (both away from home) have placed the midlanders in the frame for a play-off place and having won their last three at home on the trot, Kiddy look well positioned for a fourth win on Saturday.

Kidderminster possess a strong record at Aggborough with overall stats of  13-2-3  40/20 with only Luton Town and Cambridge United (14 wins) recording more home wins than them in the division. The key to Kidderminster’s success at home is simple – goals and plenty of them as they’ve failed to hit the back of the net just twice all season at Aggborough.

Visitors Southport have also enjoyed a spell of good form recently with wins over Grimsby Town, Dartford and Macclesfield Town along with a point at Chester, with just one defeat in their last five which came at Woking 0-2. However, sorry to put a dampener on any Southport fans reading this but The Sandgrounders’ recent successes all came at their Haig  Avenue ground while on the road they’ve continued to disappoint.

Just the one away win all season (at yes, you’ve guessed correctly – Hyde) way back in mid-August of last year, Southport have been as happy as anything but sandboys on their travels with an overall record of  1-4-14  13/38 and have kept just one clean sheet all season on the road courtesy of a 0-0 draw at Grimsby Town.

Add in the fact that they’ve failed to score on nine separate occasions away from home, and all of a sudden, the omens do not look good for the visitors here this afternoon.

Kidderminster will be keen to hang onto their play-off status and will almost certainly get chances to score against Southport who do not travel well – this could well be a 2-0 home win for the hosts today.
