Leeds United v Ipswich Betting Tip Leeds ‘draw no bet’ – Wednesday 4 March

Championship Tips

Leeds would have thought they were well on their way to their fourth win in five games when taking a two goal lead in the first half against Watford on Saturday. Unfortunately, for Leeds, they conceded without reply and ended up losing their second home game in their last three. They remain well clear of the relegation zone, though, holding a 10 point lead over third bottom Millwall and with five sides between them, it will take a monumental collapse to see them dragged into that scrap. A couple more wins will definitely see them safe and that’s what Neil Redfearn will be telling his players.

It was derby day blues for Ipswich as they went down 2-0 away to Norwich on Sunday. It was more than bragging right up for grabs as well, of course, as both clubs are going for promotion and the result seen Norwich leapfrog their local rivals in the table. Mick McCarthy’s men have a two point lead over Brentford at the time of writing, and that all important sixth position. Automatic promotion may well be beyond them but they will certainly believe they are good enough to finish in the play-off spots and one of their main strengths has been how they have responded to a defeat – they’ll be hoping that’s the case once again.

There’s been plenty of off the field distractions at Elland Road this season which is bound to have an effect on what is happening on the park. The reign of controversial owner Massimo Cellino has been eventful to say the least with numerous manager appointments and sackings and even a FA imposed ban on the owner acting as chairman due to a conviction for tax evasion in Italy. It leaves the ownership of the club in limbo but all the players and management can do is try to focus on securing Championship future for another season.

Few would have expected Ipswich to hold much of a shot of being promoted at the start of the season such is the quality in the league. That will suit McCarthy and his players perfectly, however, as it would allow them to go about their business without any attention from the media. There will still be doubters even now but they are definite challengers and have proven to be one of the most consistent sides in the division and have enough experience at this level to remain very competitive between now and the end of the season.

Leeds have lost more games than they should have liked or expected to at this stage of the season (six) but only two of them have been by more than one goal. Ipswich, having lost three of their last four away game in the league and there’s no doubt that they are a better side at home than on the road. With that in mind, and with Leeds having beat Bournemouth, Derby and Middlesbrough already, there’s enough there to suggest they can get an important win on Wednesday night. Ipswich have yet to lose successive games this season, though, so take some insurance and play Leeds ‘draw no bet’.
