Football – Europe – Champions League Betting Tips

Leicester City trail by a one goal margin as they head into this Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid, but I suspect that The Foxes won’t be too perturbed by this with home advantage now at their King Power Stadium this evening.

The appointment of manager Craig Shakespeare, first as caretaker-manager, and then handed the job until the end of the season, has boosted the east midlands outfit and their fortunes have taken a turn for the better both domestically (Leicester recently racked up five wins on the trot in the Premier League) and on the european stage.

The fighting spirit that we saw last season under Ranieri has returned and having beaten Spanish opposition in the previous round (Leicester recorded a 3-2 win on aggregate over Sevilla), after trailing 2-1 away from home, means we have a similar situation ahead this evening.

Atletico Madrid seem to have the upper hand in this Champions League quarter-final second leg as they take a one goal advantage to Leicester with them, but they’ll be very wary of what Leicester are capable of on home turf, especially following Leicester’s turnaround against fellow Spanish compatriots Sevilla in the previous round.

But Atletico possess a very solid pedigree at this level and are no strangers to facing adversity in this elite european competition; in their group games, Atletico registered away wins at PSV and Rostov along with recording a 4-2 aggregate win over Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16.

Incidentally, Atletico registered a 4-2 win away from home against Leverkusen which means they’ve won three of their last four away matches in the Champions League.

To sum up, Leicester’s fighting spirit along with Atletico Madrid’s pedigree and ‘know-how’ at this level should see both teams score tonight.
