O's to hold Robins at the Matchroom Stadium

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Tuesday 29th January 2013 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Leyton Orient, just below a mid-table position, take on fourth placed Swindon Town at their Matchroom Stadium on Tuesday night as the O’s look to continue their improving home record.

Leyton Orient halted a run of four matches without a win when they beat Notts County 2-1 at the weekend which earned them their fourth win in their last six matches at the Matchroom with previous wins over Shrewsbury Town 2-1, Preston NE 2-0 and improving Walsall 2-1. Leyton Orient’s home record now stands at a more respectable  7-1-6  16/15 with the only loss during this six match run being against Scunthorpe United 1-3.

It would appear on paper that they have a tough night ahead of them though as they’re up against a Swindon Town side in search of automatic promotion and are one of the stronger candidates for at least a play-off place, but don’t underestimate Leyton Orient at home as they’ve strung together some decent results lately.

Swindon Town’s match at Tranmere Rovers was postponed due to bad weather at the weekend and they will now travel south down to London for their match at Leyton Orient, no doubt keen to get back on the football pitch and to close the gap on league leaders Tranmere and Doncaster who currently hold a seven point lead over them.

Swindon’s away form has been pretty good also with wins at Stevenage 4-0, Walsall 2-0 and Oldham Athletic 2-0 along with a point at flying Bournemouth who seem to have all the momentum at the moment.

Swindon’s away record stands at a pretty reasonable  6-3-3  17/11 and they’ve kept six clean sheets but they do sometimes slip up against lower half opposition as recent results at Crewe Alexandra (1-2) and Notts County (0-1) will testify, and I believe Leyton Orient have enough about them to earn a point here.

As mentioned then, The O’s have put together some good results at home recently and as far as I’m concerned the jury’s still out on Swindon’s consistency away from their County Ground, so I’ll back the hosts here not to lose and to gain a point off Di Canio’s men. I’ll go for a 1-1 draw as a possible result.
