Friday night brings us what could be a block-buster in the National League as hosts and National League leaders Lincoln City take on high-flying Dover Athletic at Sincil Bank with the home side looking to extend their lead at the top of the division.
The Imps currently hold a two-point lead ahead of second placed Forest Green Rovers ahead of this important clash and they’re in good form as they’ve won six of their last seven matches overall having seen off Forest Green Rovers, York City, Maidstone United, Wrexham, Tranmere Rovers and Guiseley.
Lincoln also possess a strong home record which stands at 9-3-2 31/11 which includes four straight wins on the trot prior to this clash, but they will face tough opposition tonight. Nevertheless, watch out for striker Rhead (11 goals) as a potential anytime goalscorer for the hosts.
Visitors Dover Athletic have also enjoyed a pretty successful campaign so far in this season’s National League as they sit in fifth spot having suffered just two defeats from their last ten league matches overall.
The defeats have come at home to Dagenham & Redbridge and away at Macclesfield Town, but it’s interesting to note that 8 of their last 10 matches overall have seen both teams score. In addition, Dover hold an away record which seems almost set up for both teams to score here, with stats of 7-2-5 26/21.
Prior to their defeat at Macclesfield, Dover had put together a five-match unbeaten run which included wins at Bromley, Solihull Moors, Sutton United and Maidstone United. Only Forest Green (30 goals) have scored more away goals than Dover so far this term.
