Saturday’s early kick-off in the National League brings us a real blockbuster as hosts and second placed Lincoln City take on new league leaders Forest Green Rovers at Sincil Bank in the highlight of this weekend’s non-league action.
If you took a look at Lincoln City’s recent matches in all competitions you could be forgiven that The Imps were experiencing somewhat of a slump in form following losses to Arsenal 5-0 in the FA Cup, a defeat and draw to York City in the FA Trophy and Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat away at Boreham Wood in the National League.
Now switch to the National League only, and the loss at Boreham Wood (who, incidentally, possess the best defensive record at home in the division), was Lincoln’s first in six matches. Lincoln hold a good home record that stands at 11-4-2 37/14 and they’ve won six of their last seven on home turf.
Visitors Forest Green Rovers took over at the top of the non-league top flight during the week at the expense of today’s hosts, Lincoln City, thanks to a 2-1 home win over Solihull Moors which became a third win on the trot for the west country outfit.
Forest Green have also been in good form in recent weeks as they’ve collected five wins from their last six matches overall with wins recorded against Woking, Macclesfield Town, Sutton United, Wrexham and of course Solihull.
Forest Green hold an away record of 11-1-6 37/24 and they’ve shown they’re very capable of scoring goals on their travels this season as they lead the division in away goals scored so far in this campaign.
