LIVERPOOL v CRYSTAL PALACE

Sunday 23rd April 2017 – Kickoff: 1630hrs

Football – England – Premier League Betting Tips

Liverpool have a great chance of stealing a march on the top two in the Premier League, Chelsea and Tottenham, as they were involved in the FA Cup semi-final yesterday, but The Reds will need to overcome a spirited Crystal Palace at Anfield this afternoon to do so.

A seven match unbeaten run in the English top flight which includes recent back-to-back wins over Stoke City and West Brom (both away from home), have helped lift Liverpool into third spot and an automatic Champions League berth as they now hold a two-point advantage over fourth placed Manchester City.

With an impressive record of  11-4-1  41/16 at Anfield, this lead could be extended to five points, and in turn could reduce the deficit to just two points behind Tottenham if they manage to take all three points here this afternoon. However, Liverpool’s tendencies to slip up against the weaker teams in the division has been well documented, and defeat to Swansea City in January and just a point in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth underlines this point.

Visitors Crystal Palace have ensured virtual safety in the Premier League following an impressive run of just one defeat from their last seven league matches under manager Sam Allardyce who has helped rejuvenate The Eagles as they make their way to merseyside for this important clash.

However, with Hull City and Swansea City both winning yesterday against Watford and Stoke City respectively, Crystal Palace are only four points ahead of the bottom three and they’ll be aware that they may need to make use of their games in hand over their relegation rivals with a home game against Tottenham and an away trip to Manchester City coming up.

Allardyce will be without the services of Mamadou Sakho who is ineligible to play against his parent club, but striker Benteke (12 goals) will line up against his former club with a point to prove.
