Liverpool bring an eight-game unbeaten streak into Sunday’s clash with Watford at Anfield and another win here today could see them go top of the Premier League as rivals Arsenal play Tottenham in the north London derby also today.
Liverpool currently sit in fourth place and still remain unbeaten at Anfield so far this season having secured emphatic wins over Leicester City 4-1 and Hull City 5-1 along with a 2-1 win over West Brom last time out on home turf.
The goals have certainly flowed for The Reds so far this season with a number of players contributing such as midfielders Milner and Coutinho (4 goals apiece) as well as forwards Firmino and Mane (also 4 goals each), and they’ll be expected to start strongly again today.
Visitors Watford have also put together some useful results in recent weeks as they are unbeaten in their last four matches overall in the Premier League having recorded wins against Middlesbrough and Hull City along with draws with Bournemouth and Swansea City.
However, these results have all been gained against teams that are sitting in the bottom half of the division and they face a difficult task of keeping a buoyant Liverpool side quiet at Anfield here today.
And even though they possess a fairly solid looking away record of 2-2-1 6/5, again these results have been largely against bottom half opposition, with their one defeat being at 9th placed Burnley – does this show an insight as to Watford’s true position I wonder?
Anyway, I’m backing that Liverpool will start here in quick fashion and will go with the half-time/full-time option on the hosts.
