LUTON v WYCOMBE – Pick: 1 AH0 – 24 March 2015

Hatters could cause Chairboys some discomfort

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Tuesday 24th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Tuesday night brings us just the one game from League Two with a top half clash between hosts Luton Town and third placed Wycombe Wanderers at Kenilworth Road.

Luton Town suffered a fourth consecutive League Two defeat away at Newport County on Saturday  and this poor run of form could seriously threaten their play-off hopes as they’ve lost ground on the teams above them, while the likes of Plymouth Argyle and Stevenage are catching up.

Incidentally, three of Luton’s four defeats though have been away from home while their overall record at Kenilworth Road remains a good one, particularly for a side that have returned to the football league after a lengthy absence. It reads a very creditable  11-4-3  28/12 and they’ve lost just once in their last fifteen matches on home turf.

Wycombe Wanderers were held 2-2 at home on Saturday by Accrington Stanley which extend their unbeaten run to six matches, a run which has been split by three wins (Carlisle United, Tranmere Rovers and Shrewsbury Town) along with three draws (Stevenage, Southend, Accrington).

Wycombe also possess a strong away record which has seen The Chairboys experience defeat just once all season which was a 2-1 loss at Exeter City back in October of last year. Since then, Wycombe have put together an unbeaten eleven-match run amongst their overall record of  10-7-1  30/15.

It’s also worth noting that their last three away matches against top half opposition have all ended in draws.

There may well be another draw on the cards here tonight, but I’ll back Luton to break their poor run (with the draw on my side) as I’ll take the round ball on offer. Could perhaps be a 1-0 win for The Hatters if it’s not a draw!
