Football – Denmark – Nordic Bet Ligaen

It’s the opening round of the Danish second tier tonight and my first pick features hosts Lyngby entertaining AB Copenhagen at their Lyngby Stadion.
Despite a couple of pre-season defeats to Superligaen outfits Vestsjaelland 0-5 at home and a 0-1 loss away at Nordsjaelland, they bounced back with a 5-1 home win over 2nd Division Roskilde recently, and they’ll be confident of scoring more goals heading into tonight’s tussle with AB Copenhagen.
Lyngby ended last season’s campaign in the Nordic Bet Ligaen in third place behind Silkeborg and Hobro who were both promoted, so they’ll be pushing to go one step better this time around and gain promotion themselves into the Superligaen.
Their overall home record ended up on a solid 11-2-4 33/18 with striker Mortensen banging in a total of 23 goals (10 goals of which were first goalscorer), but he looks a good anytime goalscorer here tonight and he’s also lyngby’s penalty taker.
Visitors AB Copenhagen only just avoided relegation thanks to a better goal difference than Hvidovre who went down instead of them thanks to a 5 goal difference in Copenhagen’s favour.
Tonight’s visitors haven’t played a single pre-season match in their warm-up for this new campaign in the Nordic Bet Ligaen and this may come back to bite them tonight against the favourites for this clash Lyngby.
Copenhagen’s overall away record finished up on a shaky 3-4-10 12/29 with a lack of away goals contributing to their poor season. In fact, only bottom club Marienlyst, who were also relegated along with Hvidovre, scored fewer goals than AB with a meagre total of 11 goals.
All up, hosts Lyngby should win this opening home game and with a superior attacking edge I’ll back them to cover the -1 asian handicap too – could perhaps be a 2-0 win for the hosts here.
