The National League trait of any team beating another on their day continued with Macclesfield Town’s 4-2 home win over title chasing Tranmere Rovers at their Moss Rose Ground which provided the opportunity for Lincoln City to take over at the top of the non-league top flight.
Macclesfield hold home advantage once again on Tuesday night when they take on fifth placed Dover Athletic but the hosts have shown an inconsistent streak throughout this campaign so far as their home record of 6-1-5 18/12 clearly shows.
Indeed, their recent win over Tranmere Rovers ended a run of four league matches without a win on home soil as they’d recently suffered defeats to Boreham Wood, Forest Green Rovers and Bromley.
Visitors Dover Athletic could move level on points with Forest Green Rovers and Dagenham if they manage to take all three points in Tuesday’s visit to Macclesfield, and with a four-match unbeaten run under their belts prior to this encounter, this isn’t out of the question.
Draws against Forest Green Rovers, Maidstone United and York City along with a 4-1 win away at Maidstone have helped lift the Kent side up into play-off reckoning, and they’ll be desperate to hold onto the last remaining spot in the play-off pack this evening.
Dover’s away record reads 7-2-4 25/19 but this record has been vastly improved in recent times as they’ve won four of their last five on the road with victories at Bromley 2-0, Solihull Moors 3-2, Sutton United 6-0 and the aforementioned 4-1 win at Maidstone United.
