MACCLESFIELD v TORQUAY – Pick: X – 25 November 2014

Silkmen and Gulls in tight clash

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Tuesday 25th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Macclesfield Town host Torquay United tonight at their Moss Rose ground as they bid to extend their unbeaten run in the Conference Premier to nine matches.

Macclesfield have recently racked up wins over league leaders Barnet as well as victories against Dover Athletic, Chester City and Alfreton Town, all of which were on home turf. In addition, The Silkmen have been involved in four draws and all three points tonight could see them jump up into second place depending on other results.

Macclesfield’s home record stands at an impressive  7-4-0  18/6 and along with newcomers Eastleigh, they remain the only two clubs in the Conference yet to taste defeat at home so far this season.

The hosts have won their last four at home on the trot but have drawn four of the six matches they’ve played against top half opposition so far.

Visitors Torquay United currently sit in a disappointing 10th place in the Conference after making an explosive start to their new campaign having lost just once in their first eleven matches. However, since that great start, The Gulls have slipped down the table in almost disastrous fashion as they’ve registered just two wins from the further nine matches played.

The two wins were recorded against Wrexham at home and away at Barnet but prior to the win over the league leaders, Torquay had suffered four straight defeats on the road at AFC Telford, Forest Green Rovers, Alfreton Town and Kidderminster.

Torquay’s away record stands at  4-1-5  18/18 which isn’t bad, and the win at Barnet proves they are not to be written off lightly here tonight.

Macclesfield have been in good form at home but they’ve also been involved in a number of draws, while Torquay have proved they can win on the road as well as lose, but I reckon both teams could cancel each other out tonight. Might be a draw.
