Macclesfield Town picked up another useful three points on Saturday when they beat Guiseley 2-1 away from home to hand them a fourth National League win from their last five matches overall.
They now return to their Moss Rose Ground for Tuesday night’s clash with Wrexham, and with this being the only fixture in the non-league top flight this evening, the hosts have a great chance of lifting themselves up as high as third place with a win here tonight.
Macclesfield’s overall home record stands at a slightly inconsistent 3-0-2 9/5 but all three of their home wins to date have been against teams in the lower half of the division with victories secured against Torquay United, Southport and Woking respectively.
Visitors Wrexham are a hard nut to crack at their Racecourse Ground and this has proven to be the case again this season so far as they’re still unbeaten on home soil in the National League with three wins and three draws in their six matches played so far.
However, The Dragons’ form away from home continues to let them down as they went down 2-0 away at Woking the weekend before last, and they currently hold an ordinary away record of 1-1-3 5/11 on their travels despite an opening away win at Guiseley at the start of the campaign.
Since that win (over rock-bottom Guiseley), Wrexham have slumped to three defeats from their last four away matches with losses at Aldershot, Dagenham & Redbridge and Woking (all to nil), while grabbing a point at mid-table Maidstone United in a 2-2 draw.
But I feel this game tonight may well be beyond them with Macclesfield on a high after their win on the weekend.
