Malaga's home form could be key tonight

Saturday 4th April 2015 – Kickoff: 1900hrs

Despite recent back-to-back defeats away from home, Malaga have been in good form at their Estadio La Rosaleda as they’ve picked up maximum points against Getafe and Cordoba on home turf, as well as recording a massive win at Barcelona just a few weeks ago.

Seventh placed Malaga now take on David Moyes’ Real Sociedad side who have struggled away from home in the past few weeks or so, while Malaga have won three of their last four home matches, and have lost just once in their last five.

Malaga’s home record has also been steady all season which stands at  8-3-3  19/11 and includes seven clean sheets on home turf, while their most likely anytime goalscorers look to be forwards Juanmi and Amrabat.

Real Sociedad have been in good form themselves of late having racked up four wins from their last five matches overall, but perhaps it should be kept in mind that three of those five wins came at home while they did beat Getafe but lost at Valencia.

Anyhow, Real Sociedad have crept up into 9th place on the back of some encouraging home results, but their away form still requires further attention as the overall record of  1-6-6  9/21 shows; their first away win of the season came away at Getafe in a narrow 1-0 win, but they will face a sterner test at Malaga tonight I feel.

Real Sociedad also have a poor record away at top half teams this season, having lost all five matches against such opposition.

With Malaga in pretty good home form right now, I’ll back them to grab all three points here while it’ll be interesting to see if Real Sociedad have turned a corner in their away form. Malaga to edge this 1-0.
