Manchester United know that if they take all three points in today’s lunchtime kick-off against Stoke City, they can get a jump on Tottenham and lift themselves up into third place in the Premier League.

A League Cup win away at Northampton Town, a 4-1 Premier League win over title holders Leicester City and the Europa League win over Zorya should set the Red Devils up nicely here today, and with strikers Ibrahimovic and Rashford in early goalscoring form, they should run out comfortable winners here.
Onto Stoke City, and Mark Hughes’ side look a beleaguered outfit as they are the surprise basement dwellers in the English top flight after the first six games of the new campaign. Stoke have managed to take just two points from a possible 18 on offer, and they sit joint bottom with Sunderland as a result.
Draws with Middlesbrough and West Brom have been scant reward for the visitors so far this season, while their overall away record stands at a below-par 0-1-2 2/6, but they head into today’s game in Manchester on the back of six away matches without a win.
Stoke have never been completely at ease outside of their Britannia Stadium comfort zone and last season they registered an ordinary away record at top half opposition of 2-3-5 9/22, and this afternoon should be no exception.
