Melbourne City and Western Sydney to both score in possible stalemate

MELBOURNE CITY v WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS

Football – Australia – A-League Betting Tips

Melbourne City have lost a lot of ground recently on the teams above them in the Australian A-League due to too many stalemates for the Melbourne-based club as they’ve been involved in four draws from their last five matches overall.

It’s now five matches without a win for Michael Valkanis’ side as Valkanis took over from sacked former manager Van’t Schip following this dismal run of form which has seen Melbourne City fall off the pace. But they have a good chance of redeeming themselves here on Friday night against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Melbourne’s home record stands at a slightly below-par  3-2-2  13/12 considering the firepower and flair they have in the attacking third with personnel such as Cahill, Fornoroli, Brattan and Brandan.

Visitors Western Sydney Wanderers will be reasonably confident that they can take something out of this clash with Melbourne City following a sequence of seven league matches with just one defeat.

The loss came in a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Melbourne Victory, but the Wanderers have posted a useful 4-1 win away at Central Coast Mariners along with taking points in each of their last three matches with draws against Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar (away from home) and the New Years Day 1-1 draw with Perth Glory.

But three draws from Western Sydney Wanderers’ last five matches suggest they’d be happy to take a point here, and the draw features prominently in their away record which currently stands at  2-3-1  11/10.

This game looks like it could well be heading for another stalemate, but I’ll back both teams to score in this encounter in what could be a 1-1 draw.
