MEXICO v NEW ZEALAND

Wednesday 21st June 2017 – Kickoff: 2100hrs

Football – World – Confederations Cup Betting Tips

Mexico will have been reasonably satisfied with their opening group match against Portugal which ended in a 2-2 draw which gave them a solid start, and no doubt they’ll be looking to secure an easy three points against bottom side New Zealand when the two teams meet at the Olimpiyskiy Stadion Fisht in Sochi on Wednesday night.

Mexico qualified for the Confederations Cup thanks to winning the CONCACAF Cup back in 2015, and they’ve made the most appearances in this competition with this being the seventh occasion that they’ve participated.

Mexico will be very confident ahead of this clash as they’ve beaten the Kiwi’s in each of their previous five meetings, scoring a total of 16 goals, and conceding just 4 in reply. Look out for forwards Hernandez, dos Santos and Vela here.

New Zealand come into this encounter looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat in all competitions following losses to Northern Ireland, Belarus and in their opening group match, to Russia 2-0. New Zealand represent the Oceania section, and qualified for the Confederations Cup courtesy of becoming the OFC Nations Cup winners last year.

The Kiwi’s have also failed to score in each of these three recent defeats which doesn’t instil confidence in them getting anything out of Mexico here, although forwards Wood and Rojas should still be respected by the Mexicans.

New Zealand’s previous appearances in the Confederations Cup though have been nothing short of disastrous as they’ve lost nine of their ten matches played, with a whitewash spared by a 0-0 draw against Iraq back in June 2009.

Mexico should easily control this match, and I’m expecting them to get off to a flyer this evening.
