Friday night brings us more Championship action, and tonight’s match is an intriguing contest between third and fourth place in the division as hosts Middlesbrough take on Hull City at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough have had some internal issues to deal with recently as manager Karanka appears to have fallen out with some of his squad and wasn’t present for Boro’s 2-0 loss away at Charlton Athletic on the weekend. However, he’s now been ‘re-installed’ as boss and should be on the touchline for tonight’s crucial promotion clash with Hull.

Boro have lost three of their last four overall with defeats to Blackburn Rovers, Rotherham United and Charlton Athletic although all three of these defeats were handed out to them on the road. At the Riverside, Middlesbrough hold a very steady  12-3-2  26/6 record on home turf with just one defeat from their last 15.

Visitors Hull City were once again held to a stalemate at their KC Stadium, this time by Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night in a 1-1 draw as The Tigers have now drawn their last three on the trot on home turf having been held to earlier draws by Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons.

Hull’s away form has been pretty inconsistent throughout this campaign as their record of  8-3-7  18/14 shows, and whilst they’ve registered recent wins away at Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town, they’ve also suffered defeats at Burnley and Birmingham City.

So, with both teams looking a little off-colour heading into this encounter, i reckon they would both be content not to lose this important clash.
