Middlesbrough to put Rotherham away at the Riverside

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Middlesbrough kept up their promotion interest on the weekend with a convincing 3-0 home win over Charlton Athletic at the Riverside Stadium, and they’ll be looking for more of the same when hapless Rotherham United make the trip up to Teeside for tonight’s clash.

Despite recent defeats away from home at Reading and Cardiff City, Middlesbrough have remained impressive on home turf where they’ve posted a very solid record of  5-1-1  14/2 so far this season, and this has included five clean sheets to date.

Karanka’s side have built their success so far upon a solid defensive record and it’s hard to see Rotherham United breach the back four more than once if they’re to stand a chance of winning this one.

Onto Rotherham United then, and Neil Redfearn’s side currently sit bottom of the pile following Saturday’s resounding 3-0 defeat away at Derby County, and it doesn’t get any easier with tonight’s clash against promotion-chasing Middlesbrough.

Rotherham have lost four of their last five Championship matches with defeats to Burnley, Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby and it’s hard to see them getting anything at the Riverside Stadium tonight.

In addition, Rotherham’s away record has been poor so far this term with stats of  1-1-5  8/14 and they’ve conceded the most number of away goals in the division along with Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers, while they’ve lost three of their four encounters so far against top half opposition on the road.

Given Middlesbrough’s impressive defensive record on home turf, I’ll back Boro to win tonight and cover the -1 asian line too.
