MILLWALL v BRIGHTON – Pick: 2 AH0 – 17 March 2015

Seagulls to make their point at the New Den

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Tuesday 17th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Millwall suffered their sixth defeat in seven matches when they lost 2-0 away at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, and their position looks a bleak one for Neil Harris’ boys as they sit second from bottom in the Championship, nine points behind Rotherham who occupy the safety position of 21st.

The Lions have endured a difficult season despite pre-season hopes of attaining at least a mid-table position with the appointment of former Blackpool boss Ian Holloway who had guided The Tangerines to the Premier League, but sadly the results just didn’t come and Holloway was sent packing.

Millwall’s home record stands at a poor  3-5-10  18/34 and they’ve conceded the most home goals in the division so far this season. They have also gone eleven matches without a win at the New Den, and confidence must be at an all-time low for The Lions.

Brighton earned a good point against 8th placed Wolves at their AMEX Stadium on Saturday which has helped keep The Seagulls out of the bottom three despite experiencing their own managerial problems earlier in the season.

Sami Hyypia departed around Christmas, but since then Brighton have steadily accumulated points with wins over Charlton, Leeds United, Birmingham City and Derby County which has kept their heads above water. Their away record stands at  3-7-8  16/22 but with new manager Chris Hughton  at the reigns, they should tighten up at the back over the next few weeks.

Despite Brighton’s average away results lately, I still feel they can get at least a point away at Millwall tonight so I recommend backing them with the round ball – they could even nick this perhaps 1-0 to take the points.
