Friday night also brings us action from the Czech 1.Liga with hosts Mlada Boleslav taking on Hradec Kralove at their Adidas Aréna with the home side having captured three wins from their first four league matches of the new season.
The hosts have also had the advantage of playing competitive football before the start of the domestic season too as they have been involved in the qualifying stage of the Europa League, and although they narrowly lost to Shkendija 2-1 on aggregate, they’ll take heart from their 1-0 home win over them in the second leg.
Mlada Boleslav hold an early home record of 1-0-1 4/2 having beaten Slovan Liberec 3-0 but this was then followed with a surprise 2-1 defeat to Karvina. This recent defeat was Mlada Boleslav’s only blot on their ink-pad from their last 15 league matches on home soil.
Visitors Hradec Kralove gained automatic promotuion from the FNL second tier at the end of their last campaign and they return to the Czech top flight after a season’s absence where they’ll be looking to at least maintain their current 1.Liga status this time around.
Early results suggest they could achieve this having won twice from their first four matches (a 1-0 win over Vyso?ina Jihlava and a 3-0 away win at Bohemians 1905), but they look like they will have their hands full on Friday night as they look to contain Mlada Boleslav in their own back-yard here.
They have also failed to beat Mlada Boleslav away from home in their last four attempts which again makes this a difficult prospect for them here this evening.
