MORECAMBE v DAGENHAM – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 15 February 2015

Shrimpers could edge Daggers in Sunday show-down

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Sunday 15th February 2015 – Kickoff: 1300hrs

Mid-table Morecambe have picked up their game in recent weeks as they’ve lost just once in their last eight league matches, and three points today could see them edge nearer to the play-off pack.

Morecambe secured all three points in a 2-1 home win over fourth from bottom club Mansfield Town during the week, but the reason for The Shrimpers occupying a mid-table position has been far too many stalemates in recent weeks – five to be exact in their last eight with draws against Stevenage, Tranmere Rovers, Cheltenham Town, Plymouth Argyle and AFC Wimbledon.

Morecambe’s overall home record stands at  6-5-4  15/13 and they’re unbeaten in their last four at the Globe Arena.

Visitors Dagenham & Redbridge have also shown improvement in recent weeks as they’ve pulled away from the relegation places on the back of four matches without defeat.

Draws with Cambridge United and Portsmouth have been the sandwich for wins over Cheltenham Town and York City, although, if I’m being hyper-critical, you’ll note that these results were all achieved against bottom half opposition.

Dagenham’s away record reads  4-5-6  16/20 and they’ve won just twice on their travels in their last nine away from home which were registered at Bury and the aforementioned York City. Their leading goalscorer is veteran Jamie Cureton who has rolled back the years with 10 goals so far this season in the league.

Morecambe stand a good chance of winning this one, but with the threat of Daggers’ striker Cureton in the mix, I’ll give the quarter ball on the hosts here who might take this 2-1.
