Morecambe stumbled to a 3-1 defeat away at League Two leaders Northampton Town on Saturday but they’ll no doubt be keen to bounce back with a much better display this evening when they take on Mansfield Town at their Globe Arena.
Prior to that defeat on the weekend, Morecambe had strung together an improved four-match unbeaten run which included wins over Wycombe Wanderers and Yeovil Town along with draws against Notts County and Exeter City.
The Shrimpers’ overall home record though stands at an inconsistent-looking 5-1-6 20/21 although they have beaten Dagenham and Yeovil in recent weeks on home turf. Goals have also been coming from midfielders Ellison, Barkhuizen and Mullin who have all supported striker Miller (10 goals) up front.
Visitors Mansfield Town slumped to another defeat on the weekend as they went down 2-0 at home to Luton Town at Field Mill which handed The Stags a third defeat in their last four matches as they’d previously suffered defeats to Accrington Stanley and AFC Wimbledon.
Despite sitting in a mid-table position, Mansfield have managed just one away win from their last five away trips which was a 3-1 win away at Barnet, but an overall away record of 6-2-4 16/12 and conceding in each of their last four away matches spells the distinct possibility of further goals this evening.
Forwards Green, Westcarr and Yussuf look likely anytime goalscorers for the visitors tonight.
