Nantes registered a third consecutive league win in the French Ligue 1 last weekend when they stole all three points in a 1-0 win away at Toulouse, which followed previous wins over Angers 2-0 away and a 1-0 home win over Montpellier.
On Wednesday night they entertain a Caen outfit who also find themselves in the bottom half of the French top flight, but the hosts will be confident that they can continue their recent upturn in form against their visitors when the two teams clash at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
Nantes’ overall home record stands at 2-3-4 4/13 with their successes so far this season on home turf being victories over Bastia and Montpellier, while their record at home against bottom half teams reads a so-so 1-2-1 1/3.
Visitors Caen have also recorded two recent wins in Ligue 1 following wins over Metz and Lyon, although it should be noted that both of these wins came at their Stade Michel d’Ornano where they hold a very decent record that stands at 6-2-2 17/16.
However, their form away from home has been far from convincing as they’re yet to register an away win so far in this campaign and have actually earned just one point from the possible 27 points on offer thus far on their travels, which is a dismal record indeed.
Caen’s away record therefore stands at a poor 0-1-8 6/18 which includes five straight defeats prior to this trip to Nantes following losses at Montpellier, Nancy, Marseille, Lille and Monaco.
This should be a home win by rights then, but I advise giving the quarter ball on the hosts here.
