Napoli extended their winning streak to seven matches on Wednesday night when they registered a 2-0 win away at Lazio which consolidated their position at the top of the Italian top flight. However, they remain only two points ahead of second placed Juventus, so today’s hosts need to keep winning.
Napoli’s overall home record stands at an impressive 9-2-0 26/8 and recent wins include impressive results over Inter Milan, Torino, Sassuolo and Empoli as they’ve won four of their last five, scoring 12 goals and conceding just 4 goals in reply.
But perhaps more importantly, Napoli’s record at home at half-time stands at 8-3-0 13/3 and with strike pair Higuain and Insigne up front, this afternoon’s hosts look to be in the box-seat for the points here today.
Visitors Carpi slumped to a 2-1 defeat away at Fiorentina during the week, but this was their first defeat in five Serie A matches as they staged somewhat of a revival following a difficult campaign in the Italian top flight.
However, Carpi’s away form hasn’t changed much during this period as their record of 1-3-7 10/25 and they’re without a win from their last four away trips with defeats at Empoli and Fiorentina along with stalemates at Lazio and Inter Milan.
But this afternoon they will attempt to keep the prolific strike pair of Higuain and Insigne quiet, and I just can’t see them achieving this. The odds are a little slim, but I’ll take this little win anyway.
