Second placed Neuchatel Xamax will be looking to reduce the five-point deficit on current Swiss Challenge League leaders FC Zurich when they entertain bottom club Wohlen at their Stade de la Maladière on Monday night.
Xamax have won four of their last five Challenge League matches with wins racked up against Aarau, FC Schaffhausen, Chiasso and Winterthur, while their overall home record stands at an excellent 5-0-0 15/5 having put together a 100% home record to date.
Xamax also hold a very impressive record on home turf as they’re unbeaten in their last 19 home matches on the trot, and the visit of Wohlen provides them with a great chance of extending this excellent record.
Visitors Wohlen sit bottom of the Swiss Challenge League with just 7 points to their name as they’ve failed to win any of their home matches to date this term, and it’s interesting that the two wins they’ve registered so far have been away from home.
The two wins over Le Mont and Schaffhausen were both recorded against bottom half teams though, and this should be taken into account when looking at this fixture as they now come up against Xamax who hold a very good record on home soil.
Wohlen have lost seven of their last eight league matches overall, and this must have had an effect on their confidence in recent weeks, so a trip to Xamax is probably not top of their list right now! In addition, Wohlen were soundly beaten 4-0 in their last visit to Xamax.
