Second placed Norrkoping will be looking to keep the pressure on the current Swedish Allsvenskan league leaders Malmo when the home side play host to Djurgarden at their Östgötaporten ground following a string of useful wins.
Norrkoping have racked up four wins on the trot heading into tonight’s clash following wins over Kalmar, Jonkopings, Helsingborg and Ostersunds, and with an excellent home record of 9-2-0 33/10 behind them on home turf, I’m expecting them to continue this rich vein of form this evening.
Norrkoping are unbeaten in their last 16 matches at home and this impressive run of form includes a 4-2 win over tonight’s opponents Djurgarden when the two teams last met at Östgötaporten. If you’re looking for a potential anytime goalscorer, then striker Andersson (11 goals) is the obvious candidate for the hosts.
Visitors Djurgarden currently occupy 11th position in the Swedish Allsvenskan and although they had previously put together a three-match winning sequence with wins against Gefle, Falkenberg and Malmo, the other teams around them had also won their games and tonight’s visitors still remain in the bottom half of the division as a consequence.
Djurgarden suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to AIK Stockholm last Monday, so it’ll be interesting to see how that affects their trip to in-form Norrkoping here this evening, but with just one away win from their last nine on their travels, it seems they’ll be up against it here too.
The visitors’ away record stands at 3-0-8 9/17 and only bottom club Falkenberg have lost more away matches than Djurgarden so far this season. In addition, Djurgarden have failed to score in 5 of their 13 away matches to date.
