NORTHAMPTON v WIMBLEDON – Pick: X – 01 November 2014

Cobblers and Dons to share points at Sixfields

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 1st November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Northampton Town hog into this afternoon’s encounter with AFC Wimbledon on the back of four straight defeats which has left Chris Wilder’s men just one league place and two points above his former club Oxford United whom he left for the Sixfields Stadium.

Losses against Burton Albion, Cheltenham Town, his former club Oxford United and Luton Town have resulted in The Cobblers’ slump down the division and they now find themselves in 18th place.

A visit from AFC Wimbledon today doesn’t make things any easier for a Northampton side who have been a bit hit-and-miss at Sixfields Stadium this season with an overall record of  3-1-3  14/12. Confidence will have taken a hit also as they’ve lost their last three on the trot on home turf.

Visitors AFC Wimbledon currently sit in a much safer mid-table position following a run of five matches with just one defeat (that being a 0-2 loss away at second placed Wycombe Wanderers, so no disgrace there). However, they’ve managed to beat Bury 3-2 at home while being involved in three draws from their last five with stalemates against Cheltenham Town, Plymouth Argyle and Tranmere Rovers.

The Dons’ overall away record stands at  2-2-3  8/12 and they’ve failed to win in their last five also with only points at Carlisle United 4-4 and Cheltenham Town 1-1 out of a possible 15, for their troubles.

In a nutshell, neither team has really displayed any sort of consistency lately and I believe both teams will cancel each other out in a score-draw – could be perhaps a 1-1 or 2-2 draw here.
