NORWICH v BLACKBURN – Pick: Both teams to score – 19 August 2014

Canaries and Rovers looking to continue winning feeling

Football – England – Championship

Norwich City will be looking to post back-to-back home wins on Tuesday night when they host Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road following Saturday’s 3-0 win over Watford.

Norwich have been in fine goalscoring form in recent matches (apart from drawing a blank away at Wolves in their season opener), as they’ve scored 16 goals in the five matches since their relegation from the Premier League. 6 goals at Braintree Town, 5 goals against Nice, 2 goals at home against Celta Vigo and 3 goals against Watford on Saturday.

The Canaries’ midfield consisting of Bennett, Redmond, Johnson and Hoolahan should provide plenty of chances for forwards Grabban and Lafferty and I’m tipping that the Carrow Road faithful will be treated to plenty of goals this term in the Championship despite a poor goalscoring record previously in the Premier League.

Blackburn Rovers got their new Championship campaign off to a reasonable start when they drew 1-1 with relegated Cardiff City, but this will be an important point as the season wears on I daresay as The Bluebirds are expected to challenge for automatic promotion as they seek a swift return to the top flight.

Rovers then drew a blank at Ewood Park in their midweek first round exit to Scunthorpe United in the Capital One Cup, but it should be noted that star striker Jordan Rhodes was an unused substitute for that match. Rhodes was re-installed for Rovers’ 2-1 away win at Lancashire rivals Blackpool on Saturday with fellow striker Gestede bagging a brace.

Interestingly, manager Gary Bowyer employed a 4-4-2 formation at Blackpool whereas they used a 4-4-1-1 formation in their home loss to Scunthorpe with Varney as the lone striker. At Norwich, I’m expecting the same line-up and formation as per Blackpool tonight which gives Rovers a very good chance of scoring again tonight.

Both teams are in good shape at the moment and are both coming off wins from the weekend, so I’ll tip both teams to score again here tonight. Norwich might edge this perhaps 2-1 as a possible result.
