The City Ground in Nottingham is the venue of my next pick as hosts Nottingham Forest look to preserve their unbeaten start to the new Championship season on home turf when they entertain visitors Cardiff City.
Nottingham Forest have so far beaten Rotherham United 2-1 and then shared the points in a 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic which was the first of back-to-back stalemates for Forest as they drew 1-1 away against Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium.
Manager Dougie Freedman will have to do without the services of last season’s top scorer Britt Assombalonga though as he’s been ruled out for the majority of the season through injury. Freedman will be expecting the forward line of Fryatt, Ward, Blackstock and Paterson to step up although none of them have hit the back of the net to date in the Championship.
Visitors Cardiff City have made an unbeaten start to the new Championship season which must be a relief for under-fire manager Russell Slade and Bluebirds fans alike as they currently occupy 7th place in the English second tier.
Cardiff have also recorded a win and a draw at their Cardiff City Stadium with a point against Fulham in a 1-1 stalemate which was followed with a 2-0 win over Wolves last weekend. On the road, Cardiff City have been held to two draws so far with 2-2 and 1-1 results away at QPR and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
I daresay Russell Slade would be delighted with a point away at Nottingham Forest and he may well stick with the 4-4-2 formation that he’s employed in Cardiff’s last two away matches here this afternoon.
Both sides seem evenly matches going into today’s clash and I believe another draw could be on the cards at the City Ground today.
