NOTTM FOREST v FULHAM – Pick: 1 – 17 September 2014

Forest look to extend Cottagers' misery

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Wednesday 17th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Nottingham Forest will be looking to inflict a sixth Championship defeat upon Felix Magath’s Fulham outfit when they play host to the London club in Wednesday night’s clash at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest are currently enjoying top spot in the Championship following a strong start to their new campaign under forest legend Stuart Pearce who has returned to the club in a full-time capacity.

And his players have responded in positive fashion as they still remain unbeaten with an overall home record so far of  2-1-0  7/1 which includes wins over Blackpool 2-0 and Reading 4-0 along with a 1-1 draw in their recent local derby with Derby County.

Striker Assombalonga continues to bang in the goals (he scored his 5th in the Championship against Derby), and with the likes of Antonio and Burke creating the opportunities, he may well notch again here tonight against a fragile Fulham side.

Onto the visitors then, and Felix Magath’s approach may well be his undoing if The Cottagers suffer another defeat at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, with the threat of losing his job becoming increasingly apparent after each disappointment.

Fulham lost their fifth Championship match in six on Saturday when they lost at Reading 0-3 and to make matters worse, they had forward Matt Smith sent off, so he’ll be unavailable for tonight’s encounter.

In fact, Fulham have gained just one point so far in their bid to return straight back to the Premier League, and that was a 1-1 draw at home against fellow relegated club Cardiff City at Craven Cottage. On their travels, Fulham have lost all three so far with defeats at Ipswich Town, Derby County and Reading with an overall record of  0-0-3  2/10.

There’s no doubt about the talent available to Magath, but at the moment he looks like he’s lost the dressing room and the sack could be just around the corner.

Forest will be keen to hang onto the top spot of the Championship and against an ever-increasingly nervous Fulham side, I’ll back the hosts for a 2-1 win here.
