NOTTM FOREST v LEEDS – Pick: 1 – 20 December 2014

Tricky Trees to return to City Ground with a win

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 20th December 2014 – Kickoff: 1715hrs

Nottingham Forest will be looking to return to winning ways at the City ground this afternoon following a run of three league matches without a win.

A 2-1 defeat at St Andrews against a rejuvenated Birmingham City followed by frustrating draws with Charlton Athletic and Rotherham United recently have once again pegged back Stuart Pearce’s side as Forest remain the epitome of inconsistency in the Championship, and currently occupy a disappointing ninth place.

However, they do have a great chance of recapturing their earlier impressive form of the season this afternoon against a lacklustre Leeds United outfit who have plummeted down the league table in worrying fashion.

Nottingham Forest’s overall home record stands at  4-4-2  19/14 and they will once again turn to leading goalscorer Assombalonga (12 goals) for inspiration.

Onto Leeds United then, and as mentioned earlier, they find themselves dangerously close to the bottom three in the Championship following recent back-to-back defeats against Ipswich Town and Fulham.

Manager Neil Redfearn was reinstalled as manager a few weeks ago but he has yet to spark Leeds back into the sort of form he displayed when he took over as caretaker manager earlier in the campaign.

Despite beating league leaders Derby County 2-0 at Elland Road recently, Leeds’ away form has been very poor indeed by their standards with an overall record of  1-2-7  10/22 going into today’s encounter and having lost five of their last six on the road.

All three points are there for Forest if they want them enough against a teetering Leeds United side who have really struggled away from their Elland Road ground this season. My pick is for the hosts to edge this one perhaps 2-1.
