NOTTM FOREST v READING – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 23 August 2014

Forest too Tricky for Royals

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 23rd August 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Stuart Pearce’s Nottingham Forest charges overcame being a goal down away at Bournemouth in Tuesday night’s clash at the Goldsands Stadium to eventually claim all three points with a spirited comeback winning 2-1.

A goal from former Coventry City striker Callum Wilson threatened Forest’s unbeaten start to the new season but the Tricky Trees hit back with goals from Britt Assombalonga and Matty Fryatt to take the points which has lifted them up to top of the Championship.

Assombalonga looks to be a decent bit of business done by Pearce just before the season began, signing him from Peterborough United, and he could be Forest’s very own version of Jordan Rhodes if he continues his goalscoring streak.

Nottingham Forest will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to seven matches in all competitions when they welcome Reading at the City Ground this afternoon.

Reading suffered somewhat of a shock defeat at the Madejski Stadium when they lost 1-2 to struggling Huddersfield Town, and they now face a tough trip to the east midlands on Saturday against a bouncing Nottingham Forest outfit.

The Royals were heavily fancied to see off The Terriers last night but this division keeps you guessing each and every match with every twist and turn. Reading’s away performances last season actually outstripped their usual solid form at the Madejski Stadium last term, but it should be noted that their leading goalscorer from last season, Adam Le Fondre (15 goals), has since departed to Championship rivals Cardiff City.

Simon Cox is expected to line up against his former team mates this afternoon, but collectively, Reading are yet to really settle so far this season, but it is still early days.

For that reason, I’ve decided to play this one a bit safe and back Nottingham Forest giving the quarter ball as I just can’t completely rule out the possibility of a draw here. But the Pearce factor may well be the difference here, as Forest may edge this one perhaps 2-1. Side bets could be Assombalonga and Cox as anytime goalscorers.

Pick: Nottingham Forest AH-0.25 @ 1.73 Pinnacle
