NOTTS CO v YEOVIL – Pick: 1 AH0 – 22 November 2014

Magpies to leave Glovers empty-handed

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 22nd November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Fourth placed Notts County have won six of their last seven matches in League One and with the visit of bottom club Yeovil Town to Meadow Lane, I daresay the hosts will be eyeing off another three points.

The recent defeat to Walsall at home ended County’s fine run of five straight league wins but The Magpies bounced back with a 1-0 win away at Coventry City in their next match prior to the international break and the FA Cup.

Notts County’s overall home record stands at a curiously indifferent  3-2-3  11/10 as their best results so far this season have been on their travels where they still remain unbeaten. However, that loss to Walsall ended a run of four matches unbeaten at Meadow Lane after having beaten the likes of Gillingham and Crawley Town along with draws against Leyton Orient and Oldham Athletic.

It continues to be a difficult League One campaign for Gary Johnson’s Yeovil Town as they currently sit bottom of the division after being relegated from the Championship at the end of last season.

Dreams of a swift return to the second tier have been well and truly dashed as The Glovers head up north to Nottingham on the back of eight league matches without a win and the FA Cup win over Crawley Town will have been scant consolation. Of those eight matches, Yeovil have lost six of them while their away record has been on par with their home form.

Yeovil’s away record stands at  2-1-5  7/14 with scoring goals on their travels being the main culprit – The Glovers have failed to score in four of their eight away matches to date which has contributed to their last five matches on the road without a win.

Notts County are in far better shape than their visitors for this clash but the recent loss to Walsall makes me hesitant to back them for the straight win. I’ll therefore back County with the round ball so if it ends a draw we get our stake back. Notts County could win this perhaps 1-0.
