It’s a quick jaunt back across The Channel for my next two picks as the Belgian top flight beckons with my first pick featuring in-form Oostende taking on struggling Waasland-Beveren at their Versluys Arena with the hosts looking for another three points.
Oostende have made a great start to the new Jupiler League season as they sit in sixth place after the first four matches of the season, with early home results going very much in their favour having registered back-to-back wins over Club Brugge 1-0 and Mouscron-Peruwelz 2-1.
The hosts also picked up a useful point away at second placed Zulte-Waregem in a 1-1 draw last weekend which extended their unbeaten run to three matches following a first day defeat away at Genk (which is no disgrace).
Visitors Waasland-Beveren have struggled in the early stages of the new Belgian Jupiler League season as they are still without a win from the first four matches of the new campaign. They currently sit second from bottom and just one point above bottom club Westerlo, and they face a difficult challenge in Oostende on Saturday afternoon.
Despite their slow start to the season, they will have taken positives out of their point earned away at Genk recently as they held the hosts to a 2-2 draw, but the fact remains that they’ve managed just one league win from their last 12 matches overall.
In addition, it’s just one win from their last ten matches on the road too (which was a 3-2 win away at Sporting Charleroi back in February of last season), and they’ve scored in just one match in their last six away from home.
