Onto the Swedish Superettan next and hosts Osters will be looking to break a three match losing streak at home when they entertain fellow strugglers Angelholm at their Myresjohus Stadium on Friday night.
Three defeats in their last four matches have plunged Osters into the relegation play-off places in the Superettan while their home form has dipped in dramatic fashion; three straight defeats to Ostersunds 0-1, Jonkopings Sodra 2-3 and Hammarby 0-2 have meant their overall home record now reads a below par 2-1-5 8/12 and they’re the third lowest goalscorers at home in the division.
Osters have failed to score on three occasions at home so far along with keeping just two clean sheets, so team morale must be a little fragile right now.
Visitors Angelholm have returned some mixed results lately with defeats against Landskrona at home and GAIS away, while getting a point off Sirius on the road. In addition, they’ve registered two recent wins over Ostersunds 2-1 away and a 1-0 home win over GAIS.
On their travels, Angelholm have tightened things up a bit since their 0-5 thrashing at second placed Ljungskile with 0-0 draws at Syrianska and Sirius, a 2-1 win at Ostersunds and only lost by a one goal margin at GAIS.
Their overall away record stands at 3-2-3 10/14 which is okay, but it’s interesting to note that of the three defeats so far away from home, they’ve been beaten by more than a one goal margin just once to date which leads me to my pick for tonight’s fixture.
Osters’ recent home form has been poor and with Angelholm’s reasonable away form in recent weeks, i’ll back the visitors with the +1 asian handicap here – if they win or draw then my pick wins. If Angelholm lose by 1 goal then we get our stake returned. If they lose by 2 goals or more, the pick loses.
