PARMA v AS ROMA – Pick: 2 AH-0.25 – 24 September 2014

Roma to continue trend over hosts

International Football Tips

Football – Italy – Serie A

Wednesday 24th September 2014 – Kickoff: 2045hrs

Despite a good win away at Chievo 3-2 at the weekend, hosts Parma will be up against it on home turf when they entertain AS Roma who hold a 100% record from their opening three matches of the new Serie A season when the two teams meet on Wednesday night.

Parma ended a run of two defeats on the trot with that vital win at Chievo following losses to Cesena 0-1 away and a home defeat to AC Milan in a 9-goal thriller, the hosts going down 4-5. But entertaining as it was, it will be a worrying factor for manager Donadoni as his side conceded 5 goals on home soil with a visit from a rampant Roma outfit for tonight’s clash ahead of them.

In addition, Parma do not hold a pretty poor record against tonight’s visitors as they’ve lost five of their last six encounters against them, including losing the last three meetings on the trot with Roma winning 4-2, 3-1 and 2-0 respectively.

Onto AS Roma then, and as mentioned they’ve won their opening three matches by despatching Fiorentina 2-0 at home, Empoli 1-0 away and last weekend’s 2-0 home win over Cagliari which has placed them top of the pile in the early weeks of the Serie A.

In actual fact, Roma have won seven of their last eight matches overall in all competitions, including a crushing 5-1 home win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League, and they have yet to concede a goal so far in the domestic season.

Roma have also won five of their last seven away matches in Serie A and no doubt they’ll be keen to retain their position at the top of the league by grabbing all three points here tonight against a side who they seem to have the ‘wood’ over. As it’s still early days though, with just one away match played so far for the visitors, I’ll give the quarter ball on them but still at good odds. Roma may win this 2-1.
