Philadelphia Union responded in great fashion to their 5-1 thumping away at LA Galaxy last weekend with a solid 1-0 midweek win at home over Seattle Sounders who currently sit top of the Western Conference.
This recent win will have done wonders for Philadelphia’s confidence ahead of tonight’s clash with Montreal Impact, and with their home form fast improving, they stand a very real chance of registering back-to-back wins in the Eastern Conference which could in turn lift them up into play-off contention.

Visitors Montreal Impact were the recipients of Toronto’s bounce-back win during the week when they were soundly beaten 3-1 by the Canadians. They now face a trip to Philadelphia where they’ll be hoping to avoid a third consecutive away defeat on the trot following losses at New York City and Toronto.
Montreal currently sit just one league position and one point below today’s opponents Philadelphia but they’ve relied upon their home form where they’ve won four of their first six matches, while away from home their record reads a disappointing 1-1-5 4/14.
The Impact have failed to live up to their name on the road as they’ve lost four of their last five with defeats at Houston Dynamo, Chicago Fire, New York City and Toronto FC, and in all four defeats they’ve conceded 3 goals to their opponents.
Last week’s win over Seattle was the perfect tonic for Jim Curtin’s men and I’ll back them again with home advantage here for the points in perhaps a 1-0 win.
