PLYMOUTH v CHELTENHAM – Pick: 1 AH0 – 25 October 2014

Pilgrims to continue form at Home Park

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 25th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Plymouth Argyle extended their unbeaten run to four matches on Tuesday night when they held on for a point away at AFC Wimbledon in a 0-0 draw, and they remain in one of the play-off positions as a result.

They now look forward to returning to their Home Park ground where they’ve lost just once so far this season (which was a 0-1 loss to current League Two leaders Wycombe Wanderers), but aside from that, The Pilgrims have registered wins over derby rivals Exeter City, Southend United, Hartlepool United, 5th placed Shrewsbury Town and Carlisle United, with all four home wins being to nil too.

Plymouth’s overall home record stands at  5-1-1  10/2 and along with The Shrews, possess the meanest defensive record at home in the division.

Onto visitors Cheltenham Town, and The Robins nicked a 2-1 win away at Cambridge United on Tuesday night to register back-to-back league wins which has pushed them up into 9th place following an earlier 3-2 home win over Northampton Town.

However, Cheltenham are more consistent at their Whaddon Road round than on their travels as their overall away record testifies  3-1-3  7/8 with the wins coming away at Bury, Tranmere Rovers and Cambridge United (the latter result ended a run of three straight away defeats).

It’ll be interesting to see if Cheltenham can get anything at Plymouth today though as they’ve previously lost to other play-off placed teams such as Luton Town, Burton Albion and Shrewsbury Town.

Plymouth have been very solid at home so far this season and I think they’re a solid bet to avoid losing on home soil this afternoon – I’ll therefore back them with the round ball at a good price as they may run out perhaps 1-0 winners here.
