PLYMOUTH v YORK – Pick: 1 – 29 November 2014

Pilgrims to bounce back against Minstermen

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 29th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Plymouth’s seven match stretch without defeat recently ended at bottom half club Mansfield Town last weekend as The Pilgrims went down 0-1 but they now return to their home comforts of Home Park today where they’ll be looking to bounce back with a win against visiting York City.

Plymouth have been most impressive on home turf recently as they’ve registered five straight wins and all to nil which will have pleased manager John Sheridan no end as his side now possess a strong record of  7-1-1  16/2 at home so far this term. Unsurprisingly, they hold the best defensive record at home in League Two and will be aiming for a sixth shut-out this afternoon.

Up front, forward and leading goalscorer Reuben Reid (9 goals) has been in fine form and he’s been ably supported by fellow forward Alessandra (4 goals), both of whom are worth considering for an anytime goalscorer option.

York City make their way down to the west country on the back of two away wins from their last three matches overall with recent wins at Cheltenham Town and Hartlepool United. The Minstermen have lost just once in their last five and that was a 0-1 home loss to Oxford United.

York’s overall away record stands at  3-3-3  11/13 and they’ve won their last two on the road at the aforementioned Cheltenham and Hartlepool, although both of these sides are situated in the bottom half of League Two.

It’s one thing to win away at teams situated in close proximity to you in the division, but another altogether away at a side who are pushing for at least a play-off position let alone automatic promotion – therefore, my money’s on Plymouth to bounce back with a win today, perhaps 2-1 to The Pilgrims.
