Poland v Georgia
Saturday 13th June – Kickoff: 1700hrs
Football – Europe – 2016 European Championships Qualification

Poland top Group D after five games, holding a one point lead over Germany and Scotland. They remain unbeaten in this qualifying campaign, having defeated Gibraltar, Germany and Georgia, facing the latter in Tbilisi last November. Manager Adam Nawalka will have been disappointed not to be on maximum points at this stage, however, having dropped points to Scotland and the Republic of Ireland. The Poles conceded in injury time in Dublin, and had to settle for a draw at home to Scotland despite having numerous chances to take all three points.

The only bright spot of an otherwise dull campaign for Georgia was a 3-0 win away to Gibraltar. That success keeps them off the bottom of the group, ahead of the minnows, but they have struggled to make any other sort of impact. From their other four games, Georgia have managed only one goal – coming in the first match of the group at home to the Republic of Ireland. Defeats to Scotland, Germany and Poland – without scoring – have followed, meaning the best they can realistically hope for is to pick up a couple of results and remain in the penultimate position in the group.

Poland v Georgia Betting Tips

At the halfway point in this group, things are looking very positive for Poland but there remains a lot of hard work ahead, with visits to Scotland and Germany in the offing. Those games will ultimately determine who finishes where in Group D, but Poland will have to continue to pick up points against the lesser sides – starting with this weekend’s match at home to Georgia. Their previous two home games in this campaign, against Germany and Scotland, have seen them score twice in both. Having scored four the last time the two met, it served as an illustration of the gap between these sides. I expect a similar encounter this weekend and feel odds against on Poland -1.5 on the Asian Handicap is more than reasonable.
