Football – Europe – Euro 2016 Betting Tips

Poland squeezed through to the quarter-finals of the Euro 2016 finals thanks to a penalty shoot-out win over Switzerland in the last 16, and they now face Portugal on Thursday evening for the right to a place in the semi-finals.

Poland have emerged as dark horses in this tournament along with the likes of Iceland and Wales and they stand a very good chance of upsetting the odds even further on Thursday as they continue their impressive form on the international stage.

The Poles remain unbeaten in this tournament having beaten Northern Ireland and Ukraine along with holding Germany to a 0-0 draw in the group stages, while securing their passage to the quarter-finals at the expense of Switzerland – Poland are unbeaten in their last five overall and have suffered just one defeat from their last 13 matches in all competitions.

Onto Portugal, and they had to go to extra time against Croatia to progress to the quarter-finals thanks to a goal from Queresma, but the fact still remains that Portugal have failed to win a game over the normal 90 minutes of play so far in the Euro 2016 finals.

They sneaked into the round of 16 by the skin of their teeth following three draws against Iceland 1-1, Austria 0-0 and Hungary 3-3 respectively, and were held to 0-0 by Croatia at the end of 90 minutes in the previous round.

It’s becoming quite evident that Portugal struggle to score if their star player Ronaldo doesn’t score, so in my eyes the Poland game plan has been made quite simple – keep Ronaldo quiet and the scores will remain level for as long as possible!
