Crewe's efforts to no a-Vale

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 24th January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Port Vale go into this encounter with Crewe Alexandra having produced some mixed results in their past few matches as wins have been alternated with defeats.

Fortunately for Port Vale, the wins have been at their Vale Park ground (where they’ll be playing today) with victories over Sheffield United, Gillingham and Peterborough United, while their defeats have been away from home at Swindon Town and Chesterfield.

Vale have been impressive on home turf in recent weeks as well having lost just once in their last nine matches which includes seven wins. Within their home wins so far, Vale have taken some useful scalps with wins over Rochdale, Sheffield United and Peterborough United, while their overall home record stands at  7-2-4  20/17.

Port Vale’s goals have come from various personnel but don’t rule out leading goalscorer Williamson (6 goals).

Visitors Crewe Alexandra currently sit in the bottom four of League One despite losing just once in their last five matches, which incidentally, was at Notts County last weekend. However, dig a bit deeper and you’ll find that two of their three recent wins were at Gresty Road while their away win was at Oldham Athletic who seem to have lost the plot lately.

Away from home is a very different story from their Gresty Road form as they’ve won just twice on their travels all season whilst holding an overall record of  2-2-8  10/25. Within these stats, Crewe have kept just one clean sheet (a 1-0 win at Walsall) along with conceding 2 goals or more on eight occasions from their twelve away matches so far.

Port Vale hold the momentum at Vale Park so I’ll back them for the ponts here in what could perhaps be a 2-1 win for the hosts.
