PORTUGAL v WALES

Football – Europe – Euro 2016 Betting Tips

It’s very unfair on all the other players on both Portugal and Wales’s teams, but this match is being billed as Ronaldo versus Bale when Portugal meet Wales in the Euro 2016 semi-final at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais with a place in the final up for grabs.

Taking a look at Portugal first, and I’ve got to say I’m astounded that they’ve managed to reach this far in the competition without actually winning a match in normal time – they drew all three of their group games with stalemates against Iceland, Austria and Hungary while needing extra time and penalties in their wins over Croatia and Poland respectively in the knock-out stages.

At some stage, surely, Portugal’s luck will run out, but in Wales they face a team that has never reached this stage of a major tournament in their entire footballing history, and they must fancy their chances of making it to Paris for the final.

Onto Wales, and if you’d told manager Chris Coleman that his side would be lining up against Portugal in the semi-final of the Euro 2016 before a ball was kicked, he’d have had you sectioned in the blink of an eye!

But Wales have thoroughly deserved their success to date in this tournament, and like Iceland, they have proved that desire, team-work and hard work can reap the same, if not greater, benefits as a star-studded team.

Confidence will be high in the Welsh camp after they dispatched highly fancied Belgium in a convincing 3-1 win in the quarter-finals and they have absolutely nothing to fear from their opponents Portugal on Wednesday night.

With both teams fancying their chances of winning this one, I’ll back that both sides score here tonight with caution being thrown to the wind.
