Premier League: Wolves v Everton

Premier League

Wolves (15th) v Everton (8th)

Saturday 27th March 2010 – 1500hrs

It’s the Midlands again as we look at my second Premiership tip for this weekend; Wolves take on resurgent Everton at their Molineaux ground still needing another valuable three points to take a further step towards Premiership safety.
Everton will also be looking to take all the points as they aim for a European berth, an unlikely position back at the beginning of the season when they lost three of their first four matches!
We look at Wolves first though – they have strung together three good performances on the trot with a 2-1 win at Burnley, followed with a 2-2 draw at Villa Park which was then backed up by an impressive 3-0 win at West Ham. But, when you analyze these 3 games a little closer, a win over Burnley these days is not quite as valuable now that they’ve got Brian Laws in charge of the floundering Lancashire outfit. Aston Villa was a local derby and you’d hope your players would be up for that! And then the recent 3-0 win at desperate West Ham whose club is in turmoil with Zola’s job on the line.
Their recent home form is nothing to write home about – they’ve only won 1 match in their last six at home (1-0 over Tottenham), while scoring only 1 goal in the process.
Their overall home record reads 4-3-8 10/20 and their inability to create and score particularly at home (out of 15 home games, they’ve drawn a blank on 8 occasions), is not a good sign when you’re playing an Everton side high on confidence.

Everton could move level with Liverpool and Aston Villa on points depending on the results, as Everton look to build on their recent good form; the Toffees have only lost one in their last seven matches and have won three of their last four – 5-1 v Hull City, 2-2 at Birmingham City, 2-0 v Bolton and the recent 2-0 victory at Manchester City which will see the confidence levels soar.
Their away record isn’t great admittedly; 4-4-7 20/24 but this has improved over recent weeks, and is no coincidence that the return to fitness of Mikel Arteta (4goals,1assist) and the ever-constant threat of Tim Cahill (5goals,3assists) at set-pieces, has propelled them to within 3 points of a top 6 position.
Striker Louis Saha (13goals,1assist) is their leading scorer and I fancy he might just get on the scoresheet at Molineaux.

Despite Wolves’ recent good run, they do have a propensity to commit hare-kare at the back and I think Everton are too street-wise to miss out on the inevitable chances that Wolves’ defence will offer them.

Pick: Everton @ 2.10 bet365 the best price I could find.

Good luck!
