Birmingham City (9th) v Arsenal (3rd)

Saturday 27th March 2010 – 1500hrs

St Andrews is the first stop this weekend because there are some juicy odds on offer for this one. Birmingham City, safe in the knowledge of virtually guaranteed Premiership football for next season, host 3rd placed Arsenal.
It’s been a fantastic season for The Blues, the benchmark being Premiership safety ahead of the usual last-game-of-the-season panic stations, and their home form going into this game is also worth noting; they are currently on an eleven match unbeaten run at home, including draws against Chelsea (0-0), Manchester United (1-1) and Tottenham (1-1) along with good wins over Sunderland (2-1) & Fulham (1-0).
Just a draw over Arsenal would complete an impressive set of results over the Top 5 of the league.
Their home record reads 7-6-2 15/10, and while they tend not to score many goals, they also don’t concede many either – they have kept 7 clean sheets out of their 15 home matches.

Arsenal could go top depending on other results should they beat Birmingham on Saturday.
Wenger’s men have lost only one away match in their last eight outings (that was a 0-2 loss at Chelsea), and they will be looking for a third away win on the trot having disposed of Stoke City 3-1 and Hull City 2-1 recently.
The Gunners’ away record stands at 8-3-4 30/18 and possess several players capable of match-winning performances.
Despite this though, they can sometimes lack that killer touch, and with Birmingham’s impressive home form I reckon there’s some excellent value to be had here.

Pick: Birmingham City +0.5 @ a generous 2.38 with Gamebookers, and for the daring punters, a home win is going for a massive 7.08 with Betfair!

Good luck!
