Ipswich to make their point at Deepdale

PRESTON NORTH END v IPSWICH TOWN

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Newly-promoted Preston North End have made a solid start in their return to the Championship after suffering some really frustrating years in League One. Manager Simon Grayson finally achieved last season what the previous bosses had failed to deliver, and that was a long-awaited return to the second tier.

The hard work begins now though, and Preston have made a good start with draws against Middlesbrough and Rotherham United with a 1-0 win away at MK Dons in-between which has given the Lilywhites an unbeaten start to the season.

Preston also beat Crewe Alexandra 3-1 away in the first round of the Capital One Cup which has earned them a home tie against Premier League side Watford in the next round.

Visitors Ipswich Town have also made a good start to their new season as they look to emulate last season’s play-off appearance by going one step better and back into the top flight. Ipswich have flattered to deceive over the past few seasons as they’ve flirted with promotion, but under boss Mick McCarthy they look a more solid and settled outfit.

This has been evident in the Tractor Boys’ first few games of the season as they’ve managed back-to-back home wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley, along with a point away at Brentford in a 2-2 draw on the opening day of the season at Griffin Park.

These results have lifted Ipswich Town to top of the Championship but there’s a long way to go – but the early signs are good as well as making it into the second round of the Capital One Cup thanks to a 2-1 win over Stevenage with an away trip to Doncaster Rovers being their reward.

Despite Preston having home advantage at Deepdale, I fancy Ipswich Town to grab at least a point here as I reckon a strike-force containing the likes of Murphy, McGoldrick and Sears should cause a few problems. Ipswich will be happy with a point in perhaps a 1-1 draw.
