Paris St Germain will have the opportunity to overhaul Lyon at the top of Ligue 1 this weekend when they entertain Lille on Saturday evening.
PSG have won their last three league matches on the trot with wins over Lorient, Marseille and Nice, and interestingly, they scored 3 goals in each of those three matches. Overall, PSG have won four of their last five and they’ve suffered just one defeat in their last twelve matches.
The hosts’ home record stands at an impressive 11-4-0 34/10 and they’re the only team left in Ligue 1 to remain undefeated this season so far. In addition, PSG have won five of their last six on home turf with wins over Evian TG, Rennes, Toulouse, Lens and Lorient, and they’ve failed to score on just one occasion to date which is a very impressive record.
Visitors Lille have also been in impressive form of late having won six of their last seven matches overall which has helped consolidate 8th place in the French top flight. However, their form away from home has been less consistent with three wins and three defeats from their last seven on their travels.
Lille’s away record stands at 4-3-9 10/20 and when you dig a little deeper, you’ll find that they’ve actually won just once in their six away matches against top third opposition. Therefore, a trip away at second placed PSG may provide Lille with some serious questions here.
To sum up, an in-form and free-scoring PSG should have too much quality in the attacking department for Lille, and I’m also expecting the hosts to cover the asian line too. Could be a 2-0 or 3-1 home win tonight.
