Football – Scotland – Premiership Betting Tips

Famous Scottish giants, Rangers, have found life difficult in their return to the Scottish Premiership following a few years of exile after a ban was handed down to them for financial irregularities, and they find themselves in third place and a massive 33 points adrift of arch-rivals Celtic.

Make no mistake, this is not the Rangers side of old as players such as goalkeeper Wes Foderingham (formerly of Swindon Town), 38 year-old defender Clint Hill (ex QPR), 37 year-old striker Kenny Miller along with fellow forwards Garner and Waghorn who have drifted around the English Championship and League One scene, make up what is a side in need of an overhaul.

The recent results have also suggested this is the case as Rangers have lost three of their last four matches overall with defeats to Hearts, Dundee and Inverness. However, they return to Ibrox this evening where they hold a decent record of  7-4-1  17/7.

Visitors St Johnstone sit in fifth place and have enjoyed a pretty solid season so far in the Premiership as they look comfortably placed to progress into the next phase of the season, the Championship round.

However, St Johnstone have been quite inconsistent this term and recent defeats to Celtic and Kilmarnock (both at their McDiarmid Park home), suggest they’re more comfortable playing away from the pressures of home turf, and their away record of  6-4-3  15/12 certainly implies this!

The Saints gained a point in their last visit to Ibrox with a 1-1 draw, and although they’ve recently suffered defeats at Celtic and Dundee, they also collected wins at Kilmarnock, Partick Thistle and Ross County, so I think they stand a good chance of finding the back of the net here too.
